The Story of Jack and Stan
In my mind, you aren't really truly a cat owner unless you think your cat is unique,
and that every cat has a story. In this case our story revolves around 3 cats -- Junior, Jack and
Stan.
The story of the
Forever Litter Tray is really about cats, not plastic parts.
We
were seeking a good automatic litterbox solution and found Litterbox Central at the end of 2006, after
the disappearance of our cat Junior. Junior was a pretty exceptional cat -- even by "cat
standards".
We rescued Junior
as a young kitten, and were soon very spoiled by him. He was an inside/outside cat, so for the nearly 8
years we had him we didn't have to clean a litter box (except for the early days as a kitten). He was our
"shop cat" at my auto repair shop -- and commuted back and forth to work with me in my truck every day, either
sleeping on my lap or sitting up and leaning on my arm to look out the window. He was a permanent celebrity in the
office -- greeting customers, and occasionally taking a tour of the busy (and loud) auto shop to make sure all the
mechanics were doing their jobs. Completely trusting and fearless would be a good way to describe
him.
Some nights he preferred to stay at the shop (outside) and would decide not to come
home with me. If it was a Friday, I'd make sure to come back later Friday evening or Saturday to pick him up to
take home and feed. It was almost uncanny, as when I rounded the corner there he would be -- sitting on the
curb waiting, and jump in the car just like a dog, followed by very exuberant nose rubs and greetings.
He just disappeared one day -- and even though we frantically checked the whole
area, as well as all the shelters, he was never found. We dream that he just accidentally jumped in a car and
went home with someone else........
So.........we decided to rescue another cat when we were emotionally
"ready".
A dear friend then called only a couple of weeks later, saying someone had dumped a
pair of kittens, approximately 6 months old, on her property -- and due to their age and the fact that they were
both black none of the shelters felt they would be adopted, so they'd just be put down if taken there (supersitious
folks!).
We went to see them.........and were told that one of them was extremely shy, and
wouldn't come out from under the bed when people were there.
After we'd been there for about a half hour, he nonchalantly came out from under the
bed, and just walked up and bumped his nose on mine.
Needless to say at that point the decision was made....we had two new
cats.
That was Jack -- and his brother Stan are now our two very special
guys.
Who stay at
home. In the house!
Jack (left) and Stan
helping with house cleaning. I won't tell you the things Jack likes to do to that feather duster!
The shower requires a thorough inspection by the two inseparable
brothers.........
Relaxing together. So cute now, but oh
the trouble they can get into........!!
