KittyBytes Photo Gallery
One of the truly delightful parts of doing this
whole thing has been the meeting of lots (lots!) of really nice folk -- sharing info, helping each other......and
some have even sent photos of their kitties!!
So I've decided to share them for
everyone's enjoyment. If you'd like your kitty's photo posted, please just send to me in a .jpg file and I'll
be happy to post it.
Please be patient -- sometimes it's hard for me
to get the time to groom the site as often as I'd like. But if you send me a photo, I promise it will eventually
make it here!
A little bit of trivia I recently read (something we
cat owners (and our cats!) have known for years):
"The critter with nine lives just might save yours.
The risk of dying from a heart attack is 40 percent higher in people who have never owned a cat, compared to people
who have say researchers from the University of Minnesota's Stroke Institute of Minneapolis. Vets chalk up
most of the benefit to petting. The repetitive action reduces cat owners' heart rates, blood pressure and
stress levels".
And a couple of my favorite links for two of the coolest and
most unique kitty videos ever. If you're in a bad mood or have had a rough day, just watch one of
these and they'll cheer you right up!!
First the little kitten video: http://www.boingboing.net/2009/11/30/surprised-kitten-is.html

Dizzy & Essie’s ‘Indoor/Outdoor’ litter box -- with Mikki's
notes below:
"If you have indoor cats and hate having a litter box in the house, a good way to remedy that is to put it in the
garage. I put a door through the laundry room into a series of cages in the garage that gives them both
litter space and playing space. First it was just one cage with a litter box in it but if I was working in
the garage they’d sit in the litter to be ‘outside’ with me. I’ve modified it (a couple of times) and
this is what I’ve ended up with. The largest cage, which is an outdoor cat cage, is meant to stand up tall
rather than lie down. It actually works best for the Scoop Free system on its side and the way the doors open
make it very simple to change the litter. It’s also tall enough that you don’t have to take the top of the system
out of the cage to get the tray out; you just remove the two raising covers and stand the top up to the
right. What I do to deter the kitties from coming out the door when cleaning is just place the vacuum hose by
their door so they can see it. It has 4” squares on the bottom, which is the side when turned to work best so
I remedied that problem by getting black grates from the Japanese Dollar Store and zip tying them on so they
couldn’t get through there. Where I sawed the metal to make a passage upstairs, I put 4-5 layers of duct tape
on any sharp edges that they might come in contact with. Another tip is to zip tie anything to the cage they
might knock down or tip over that would prevent them from going downstairs."

Emma (left) is Betty's "needy child". "She has to
be where I'm at and she does the kneading thing a lot and if she had her way, it would be right on my
throat. She has to go to the bathroom with me and if she is on the outside of the door, she rattles it
til I open it".
