 Tray Features and Details


Forever Litter trays offer cat owners a greener and more cost effective alternative to Scoopfree® and ScoopMaid® disposable cardboard cartridges, and are a direct fit replacement for all models of machines that accept those cartriges. (***PLEASE NOTE*** Due to the difference in the cover design of the Scoopfree Slide (the manual version), the Forever Flap will not fit onto the cover section, however the tray itself will fit and work with no problem).

A side note for current owners of trays purchased 2010 and earlier: the tray bottom itself remains unchanged, as after extensive testing that design seems to work best.  The only real change has come in the area of the Flap Kit -- so if you want to update to the new design all you need to do is get the Flap Kit (which really does work significantly better than the old "lid" system).

 

In developing the Forever Tray, I had four objectives in mind:

  • Provide a tray that will cut costs for cat owners  
  • Make all aspects --from the tray to the packaging it comes in -- as eco-friendly as possible (less waste and land-fill).  All our products come packaged in recycled cardboard, and the tray itself is made from high impact, fully reyclable plastic, so that it can be properly disposed of at the end of its life cycle (which should be a long time!)  
  • Make it easy to use  
  • Make it as leak-proof as possible

The tray incorporates all these features:

  • One-piece construction for strength and integrity.  
  • Lightweight construction materials for ease of handling during changing and cleaning, without sacrificing strength and durabililty.  The tray and Flap Kit are made from the same high impact plastic. 
  • An anti-sliding ridge to reduce sliding of litter into the "poop compartment" (a highly technical term), plus an additional second barrier to improve containment (see detail below). ** IMPORTANT NOTE** The actual "poop storage area" is actually the entire area under the purple cover (or the beige cover if you use a ScoopMaid®) -- not just the area behind the barrier (although they will tend to collect in that area). So don't worry if you don't see all the poops being deposited (so to speak) behind that barrier -- everything is functioning fine as long as they are collected under the cover.

In order to help contain odors, we've developed the Forever Flap Kit.  This provides two barriers -- one at the front of the poop compartment area and one at the back.  The flap at the back serves the secondary function of helping to keep crystals from spilling out in the event the poop compartment starts to fill up with crystals when near the end of a cleaning cycle.

 The new Flap Kit design makes it much easier to tilt back the cover for the occasional "rake and stir" (see photo below) as well as more capacity in the poop compartment area.
